Tips on leaving your pets with a pet sitter

Firstly, leaving your pets while you go away is always difficult! I have a hard time leaving my dog behind with someone. Finding the person who is the right fit for you is important!

I suggest finding someone who is extremely knowledgeable in animal care. Also, have them come out to meet you and your pets ahead of time. Make sure it is a good fit for your pets.

Personally, I find it important to meet my clients and go over their animals routines before they go away. I enjoy learning their routines and seeing them with their owners. Plus it’s always nice to make a furry friend ❤️.

Leave detailed notes for your pet sitter. Personally, no detail is too small and I love having notes. They give me a reference point before having to reach out to the client. Leave emergency contact numbers: large animal vet, small animal vet, neighbor, someone else you are on the trip with in case your phone dies or you lose it (I’ve had this happen).

Make sure you have enough dog food, grain, hay, supplements for a few days longer than your trip in the event your flight gets cancelled or you experience some other delay. While many of us don’t mind having to go to the store and get things it’s always better to have things on hand. Plus, who wants to go out the second they are back and grab things.

Feel free to reach out for updates or pictures of your pets. We are more than happy to provide updates and pictures. I always want to provide the communication level my clients want.
